Mickey is orig­i­nally from the Min­neapo­lis area of Min­nesota. She car­ries an Associate’s Degree in Visual Com­mu­ni­ca­tions from Brown Col­lege and addi­tional Pho­tog­ra­phy train­ing at Hen­nepin Tech­ni­cal Col­lege in Min­neapo­lis. She is a mem­ber of the Pro­fes­sional Photographer’s of Amer­ica as well as the National Asso­ci­a­tion of Pho­to­shop Professionals.

In 2006, she and her hus­band, Tony, moved to Geor­gia to be near their daugh­ter and 3 grand­chil­dren (Josh, Abbie and Nathan). Tony is the co-owner of Shanks Pho­tog­ra­phy and also pho­tographs when he is not work­ing full-time as a Tech­ni­cal Archi­tect with JDA Soft­ware. They became grand­par­ents of 4 in 2010 when their youngest daugh­ter had her first son (Thomas). Even with the heat, they absolutely love liv­ing in Georgia.

Mickey loves serv­ing the com­mu­nity. As an active mem­ber of Har­mony Com­mu­nity Church, she enjoys serv­ing in what­ever capac­ity that she is needed. She has been involved with fundrais­ing for the Fight Against Can­cer by pho­tograph­ing the Race for the Cure, Rally for the Cure and cre­at­ing a cal­en­dar of Breast Can­cer sur­vivors for the past 2 years. She has also donated her time and tal­ent for Take Back the Night ral­lies for the past 2 years at Fort Val­ley State University.
