Mickey is originally from the Minneapolis area of Minnesota. She carries an Associate’s Degree in Visual Communications from Brown College and additional Photography training at Hennepin Technical College in Minneapolis. She is a member of the Professional Photographer’s of America as well as the National Association of Photoshop Professionals.
In 2006, she and her husband, Tony, moved to Georgia to be near their daughter and 3 grandchildren (Josh, Abbie and Nathan). Tony is the co-owner of Shanks Photography and also photographs when he is not working full-time as a Technical Architect with JDA Software. They became grandparents of 4 in 2010 when their youngest daughter had her first son (Thomas). Even with the heat, they absolutely love living in Georgia.
Mickey loves serving the community. As an active member of Harmony Community Church, she enjoys serving in whatever capacity that she is needed. She has been involved with fundraising for the Fight Against Cancer by photographing the Race for the Cure, Rally for the Cure and creating a calendar of Breast Cancer survivors for the past 2 years. She has also donated her time and talent for Take Back the Night rallies for the past 2 years at Fort Valley State University.
